EFT

Emotionally Focused Therapy

When working with couples, I draw from an approach called Emotionally Focused Therapy.

EFT is an experiential form of therapy rooted in the science of adult attachment theory. Based on this theory, the primary goal is to foster emotional safety and security between partners. I help the couple identify stuck patterns of interaction that lead to emotional disconnection. EFT interventions guide the couple in identifying their emotions, perceptions of each other, and attachment needs, while learning to express them to their partner in a healthy way. This can create a secure base. The couple's ability to recognize the negative cycle of interaction they are in facilitates a different way to view conflict. They begin to engage with each other in new ways, which encourages bonding and reconnection.

Identify, Recognize & Reconnect

Work together to develop a secure bond, create a deepening in connection and encourage a stronger, healthier relationship.
